анте Ante A forced BET that everyone at the table is required to pay before each hand. These bets constitute the initial Pot. A BLIND is an ante in HOLD'EM.
бай-ин Buy-in

The minimum amount of money required to enter any game.

 

банк Pot All the money in the middle of the poker table that goes to the winner of the hand. The interval of time from the deal of cards until the showdown (the HAND) is also called the Pot.
БАТТОН Button The marker that indicates the dealer position in a game.
БЕЗ ПАРЫ No Pair Any HAND of five different cards that don't make any combination.
БЕЗЛИМИТНЫЙ ПОКЕР No-limit poker A poker where players can bet as much as they like (as long as they have it in front of them) on any round of betting.
БЕТ Bet Wager. Also it means the action required of a person whose turn it is to bet.
БЕТТОР Bettor The betting player.
БЛАЙНД Blind A BET put in by a player before he gets his cards. In some poker games (such as HOLD'EM) the player has to put in the blind on his first HAND; It is also the player who puts in the blind. There are the small and the big blinds. The small blind (to the dealer's left) is typically half the size of a small bet, and the big blind (to the small blind's left) is a full small bet. The player who puts the last blind 'has the last word' in the first round of BETTING.
БЛЕФ Bluff A BET with a weak HAND (typically a busted hand), usually intended to get other players to fold.

  1. A comparatively strong HAND, such as FULL HOUSE.
  2. A strong incomplete combination, with high chances to win the POT. For example, incomplete STRAIGHT after the FLOP in HOLD'EM.
БОЛЬШОЙ БЛАЙНД Big Blind In HOLD'EM with limited BETS the two players (the first and second HAND) are forced to post blind bets - small and big BLIND (in succession). Usually the small blind is 10% of the maximum bet, and the big blind is two times the size of the small blind. The range of bets can be $1-$4 or $5-$10.
БОРД Board The face-up cards during the game of poker. For example, player's up cards in 7 CARD STUD and community cards in Hold'em are called the board.
ВА-БАНК All-in If you bet all your chips at any point, you are considered as having gone "All-in."
ВАЛЕТЫ И НАЗАД Jacks-and-back A form of DRAW-POKER. If no player can start ACTION with a pair of Jacks or better, then the game is played as LOWBALL.
ВАЛЕТЫ ИЛИ ВЫШЕ Jacks or better to open A form of DRAW-POKER. The initial betting round is opened by a player holding a PAIR of Jacks or higher.
ВКУПИТЬСЯ Buy in To pay the amount of money required to sit down at a poker game. See also TOURNAMENT.
ВОСЬМЕРКА ИЛИ ЛУЧШЕ 8 or better A common rule in LOWBALL, according to which the player must have a combination of cards with no PAIRS and the highest card must be eight or lower.
ВСКРЫТИЕ Showdown The point at which all players remaining in the hand turn their cards over and determine who has the best hand.
ВСТУПИТЬ В ТОРГОВЛЮ Start the action To make the first bet on the first round of betting.
ВХОДНОЙ МИНИМУМ Buy in An amount of money you pay to enter a game (or a TOURNAMENT). There is a rule that prohibits players to re-buy chips during the hand. This means, that the money the player can use during the hand must be in front of him on the table in chips equivalent. If a player wants to buy more chips he can do it only between the hands. A minimum amount of money required to get into a tournament is called "Buy-in".
ВЫДАВИТЬ Shut out A term used in no-limit when a large bet is used to force another player out of the pot. In the same way you can shut out your opponent.
ВЫЖАТЬ СТАВКУ, ИЛИ РЭЙЗ Squeeze a bet or raise A technique, used in all variants of poker, particularly in HI-LOW SPLIT, when the player who can not win is forced to place an additional BET.
ВЫНУЖДЕННАЯ СТАВКА Forced bet A mandatory BET required to start the ACTION in the first betting round. For example, in 7 CARD STUD, the holder of the lowest face up card must place a mandatory bid. In HOLD'EM the first hand must post BLINDS before the cards are dealt .
ВЫСШАЯ ПАРА High pair (Top pair) You have the first card, and the second highest card is on the FLOP ( in HOLD'EM).
ГЛАВНЫЙ ПОТ Main pot Drawing during which several players posted bets to the pot, and at leat one all-in player. The rest of the players have to make a "side" pot in such case. The all-in player can only expect the main pot.
ДИЛЕР Dealer Casino worker who conducts a game with players. He deals cards, launches roulette ball and so on. Dealer is an English name. French equivalent is croupier.
ДОЛЯ ЗАВЕДЕНИЯ Rake Amount of money taken out of every pot. It may vary depending on type of the game or its STRUCTURE. In the games with high BET limit it is usually paid by hour.
ДОПЕР Two Pair A hand in which the player has two cards of one rank and two cards of another rank. For example, two kings, two 7 and one side card.
ДОСТОИНСТВО КАРТЫ Rank Every card has a SUIT and a RANK. 10 и 10 - are the cards of the same rank. One Pair - consists of two cards of the same rank
ЗАВЕДЕНИЕ House The gaming house or casino running the game according to rules and taking per cent from the pot . This per cent is called: the RAKE. The rules are also called House Rules.
ЗАКРЫТЫЕ КАРТЫ pocket cards  The cards dealt face down. In such poker types as Stud and Hold'em some cards are dealt face up and some face down.
ЗАМОРОЖЕННЫЙ БАНК Freeze out A poker tournament or format with no REBUYS. It is good for "Head-To-Head" events in No-limit poker.
ЗАЯВКА Act

The next player action in the poker game. Possible acts:

  • check - zero bet, but not a pass;
  • pass, drop, fold - fold the cards;
  • call - call the bet of the previous player;
  • bet - opening bet;
  • raise - raise the bet;
  • re-raise - re-raise the bet by another player.

КОЛЛ Call equaling BET.
КОММЕРЧЕСКАЯ ИГРА Ring Game A cash game as opposed to a tournament. Each of these games has its own distinct strategy.
КРУГ ТОРГОВЛИ Round of betting Total amount of BETS placed by all players playing to win the POT between two actions: card exchange or showing the next card of the flop (in Hold'em) or the next community card (in Stud). The round ends when all bets are called. For example, The first player bets $1, the second bets $2, The third bets $3. The first player calls $2, the second calls $1. The round ends.
ЛИМИТ СТАВОК Limit

The limited amount of money a player can post to the POT within one round of betting. See. BIG BET. According to the Big bet amount the poker can be:

  1. no limit poker;
  2. pot-limit poker;
  3. limit poker ( minimum bet is 2-4 times smaller than big bet. For example: $5-$10 or $1-$4 (limit).
ЛИМИТИРОВАННЫЙ ПОКЕР Limit Poker A poker game wherein the amount to be bet is fixed, or at most variable within a prescribed minimum and maximum.
ЛОУБОЛЛ Lowball or low poker Generic term for poker where the lowest hand wins the POT
МАКСИМАЛЬНАЯ СТАВКА Big Bet In limited poker the maximum possible BET. In Hold'em, where the bets range from $5 to $10, the big bet is $10.
МАЛЕНЬКИЙ БЛАЙНД Small Blind In a game with multiple blind bets, the smallest blind.
МАСТЬ Suit Clubs ( ), Diamonds( ), Hearts( ), Spades( ).
МУЛЬТИПОТ Multy-pot The POT with more than two participating players.
НАВЫЛЕТ Freeze-out (Shootout) A table-stakes game that continues until a small number of players (possibly only one) has all the money. The players can't RE-BUY chips. If a player loses all his money he leaves the game. Such game requires special playing strategy compared to a common tournament, when you can re-buy chips as often as you want.
НАЧАТЬ ТОРГОВЛЮ Bring it in To make the first BET in the first ROUND OF BETTING.
НИЖНЯЯ КАРТА Down-card(s) Cards that are dealt facedown in a STUD game.
НИЖНЯЯ ПАРА Bottom (Low) Pair In HOLD'EM, a pair with the lowest card on the flop. If you have As-6s, and the flop comes Kd-Th-6c, you have flopped bottom pair. It is enough to win in Head-To-Head game.
ОБЩИЕ КАРТЫ Community (Cards) The cards dealt face up in the center of the table that can be used by all players to form their best hand in the games of hold'em and Omaha.
ОВЕРБЕТ Overbet The term is used in NON-LIMIT games. It means the BET many times bigger than the POT.
ОДИН НА ОДИН Head-Up (оr "Head-To-Head") A Head-To-Head game against only one opponent.
ОЛЛ-ИН All-in See. also SIDE POT
ОМАХА Omaha

A variant of poker. It is very similar to Hold'em, but there are two key differences:

  1. each player receives 4 pocket cards, not 2 cards;
  2. players must use exactly two of them (together with 3 of 5 board cards) to make a hand. If you have 4 aces from the beginning, then you have a PAIR of aces combination. Often played high-low split with an 8 qualifier for low.
ОСНОВНОЙ БАНК Main pot When the player goes ALL-IN, the Pot is split into the Main pot and SIDE POT. The main pot is the one in which all active players participate A side pot is created for each all-in player. See also ALL-IN.
ПАДАТЬ Drop Fold the cards
ПАРА Pair Two cards of equal rank. 10 + 10 is a Pair.
ПАС Pass Decline to call a bet, at which point you must discard your hand and have no further interest in the pot.
ПОБОЧНЫЙ БАНК Side pot If one of the players move ALL-IN, then the POT is split into the Main pot and the Side pot. The side pot is the pot available to those players who do not move all-in at that point. For example, the player at the first HAND bets $10. The player at the second hand says ALL-IN and bets $20 - all that he has on the table. The third player calls and raises $30. In this case $20 from $50, bet by the third player, go to the main pot available for all players, including the second one, and $30 go to the side pot, available only for the first and the third players, because the second player don't have the money to call this bet.
ПОЗИЦИЯ Position One's location in the betting sequence, relative to the players still in the hand. First position is first to act.
ПОЙТИ ВА-БАНК Move all-in To bet all of one's money. See also ALL-IN.
ПОКЕР Poker The name of a large group of card games with common combination range. The goal is to win the POT while betting and calling the bets. Numerous poker variants can be grouped into 3 categories: STUD, DRAW, and games with FLOP.
ПОЛНАЯ ИГРА Ring Game The play with all table seats taken. The opposite to the Short-Handed Game.
ПОСЛЕДНИЕ ДЕНЬГИ All-in f you bet all your chips at any point, you are considered as having gone "All-in." If a player moved ALL-IN and the BETS of other players are bigger than thus money, the SIDE POT is formed.
ПОТ Pot The total amount of money bet so far in a hand.
ПОТ-ЛИМИТ Pot-Limit The betting structure of a game in which you are allowed to bet up to the amount of the pot. If you Raise the CALL is added to the POT. For example, There is $100 in the pot, Player "А" bets $100; Player "B" can bet up to $400 ($100 - to call the bet of Player "А" and raise equaling the pot - $300).
ПРАВИЛО СЕМЕРОК Sevens rule The rule od DRAW-LOWBALL: the player must bet is he has "Seven" or better. If the player violates this rule he can't claim to win the POT.
ПРИНЯТЬ СТАВКУ Call Call the bet.
ПЯТАЯ УЛИЦА Fifth street In stud poker, the fifth card to be dealt to each player. Sometimes used to refer to the last card dealt in Hold'em, although the more common term for this is RIVER.
ПЯТИКАРТОЧНЫЙ ДРО-ПОКЕР Five Card Draw A variation of Poker. The players start with 5 pocket cards, then some of them can be exchanged.
ПЯТИКАРТОЧНЫЙ СТАД-ПОКЕР Five-card stud A variation of Stud. Each player is dealt 1 down card and 4 up cards.
ПЯТЫЙ СТРИТ  Fifth street The next betting round after the fourth street, the last round of betting in Hold'em.
РАУНД Round The same as the ROUND OF BETTING.
РЕБАЙ Re-buy An option to buy back into a tournament after you've lost all your chips. Tournaments may offer one or more re-buys or (often) none at all. The last opportunity to make re-buy is called ADD-ON. See also TOURNAMENT.
РЕРЭЙЗ Re-raise To raise after an opponent has raised.
РУКА Hand
  1. A single poker deal - all actions between the card shuffles: dealing, action, buying and winning the POT;
  2. Card combination. In poker variants with more then five cards (for example, HOLD'EM or 7 CARD STUD)the five cards are used to make the best hand.
  3. The first two cards in HOLD'EM.

СЕМИКАРТОЧНЫЙ СТАД-ПОКЕР Seven Card Stud A variant of Stud. Each player is dealt 7 cards, 3 down cards and 4 up cards.
СТАВКА Bet

(poker.) The act of placing a wager in turn into the pot on any betting round, or the chips put into the pot. Bets can be:

  1. ANTE;
  2. BLIND;
  3. STRADDLE - voluntary blind bet (the player next to the blind);
  4. CALL;
  5. RAISE;
  6. RE-RAISE.
СТАД-ПОКЕР Stud A variation of poker. Each player has several up cards. The most popular games are 5 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud.
СТАРШАЯ ПАРА Up Designates the higher card of a hand consisting of two pair. Thus, "Queens up" refers to two pair, of which the higher pair is queens and the lower pair is unspecified.
СТРИТ Straight A hand in which the player has five cards in rank order. Suit does not matter. For example, 9-10-J-Q-К
СТРИТ-ФЛЕШ Straight-flush A hand consisting of 5 cards in sequence and the same suit. For example,
5–6–7–8–9.
СТРУКТУРА Structure Limits used with Ante, Forced bets, Blinds, and the subsequent Bets and Raises in any poker variation.
ТЕХАССКИЙ ХОЛДЕМ Texas Hold'em The full name of Hold'em.
ТОРГОВЛЯ Action The process of he POT winning. The players play to win the Pot, bet, call and raise.
ТРЕТЬЯ УЛИЦА Third street In stud poker variations, the third card to be dealt to each player.
ТРОЙКА Three of a kind (Trey, Threes) Three cards of the same rank. For example, 10 10 10 .
ТУРНИР Tournament A highly structured game involving potentially dozens of tables where all participants pay an entry fee and obtain a fixed number of chips.Once a tournament has started, additional players may not enter. As the game progresses players bust out and are eliminated until only one winner remains. Except the Grand Prize winner several prize winners are also awarded (3 - 10 players). The regulations of different tournaments may vary but some features remain the same: Buy-in size, Re-Buy period and possibility of Add-on.
УЛИЦА Street Cards dealt on a particular round in stud games. For instance, the fourth card in a player's hand is often known as fourth street, the sixth card as sixth street, and so on.

The second player raised $20.To call the bet the third player must place $30, а and the first player - $20. equaling bet is known as CALL. It's the cheapest and the most passive bet of all possible bets.
ФИШКА Chip A round gaming token used in place of cash for convenience in handling and counting. The standard form of currency in most casinos. They can be of different value. See. CHIPS VALUE. From the psychological point of view it is easier to bet chips than the real money.
ФЛЕШ Flush A poker hand consisting of five cards of the same suit. For example, A–10–7–5–3.
ФЛЕШ-РОЯЛЬ Royal flush The best possible high hand. This is a straight flush from 10 through to Ace of the same suit. For example, A–K–Q–J–10 .
ФЛОП Flop Any of a number of poker games where a flop is dealt. Also used as a verb: To deal a flop, or to make a hand on a flop. "I flopped trips"
ФОЛД Fold To decline to call a bet, thus dropping out of a hand.
ФУЛЛ-ХАУС Full House A hand consisting of 3-of-a-kind and a (different) pair. For example:10–10–10–7–7.
ХАЙ-ЛОУ-СПЛИТ High-low split A variation of poker in which the pot is split between the best hand and best lowball hand.
ХОЛДЕМ Texas Hold'em Generic name for a class of poker games where the players receive a certain number (2 to 4) of hole cards and 5 community cards. Usually there are betting rounds after dealing the hole cards, then after dealing 3 upcards (FLOP), after dealing a 4th upcard (TURN) and finally after dealing a 5th upcard (RIVER).
ХЭНД Hand A set of cards used by a player during a single round. Another word for a single round of shuffling, dealing, and betting.
ЧЕК Check If there is no bet on the table and you do not wish to place a bet, that action is termed a check. You may only check when there are no prior bets.
ЧЕК-РЭЙЗ Check-raise To check initially, then raise a bet made later on in the same betting round. Frequently a sign of strength, but may be a bluff.
ЧЕТВЕРТАЯ УЛИЦА Fourth street
  1. In stud poker, the fourth card dealt to each player.
  2. Sometimes used to refer to the fourth community card dealt in Hold'em, although the more common term for this is TURN
ШЕСТАЯ УЛИЦА Sixth street The sixth card dealt in 7-card stud.
ЭДД-ОН Add-on The last opportunity to buy chips in a poker tournament, the last Re-buy. Often the organizers of the tournament give players the following privilege: they give the double amount of chips during the last re-bay, in comparison with ordinary re-buy. For example, an admission ticket costs $100. $500 tournament chips are given according ro it. If you buy additional chips (re-buy) for $100 you get $500 additional chips. When it's time to add-on (the time is a declared by the organizers beforehand) you can get $1000 additional chips for $100. See also TOURNAMENT.
